Active on Exmoor
With summer approaching and the weather slowly improving we have put together this blog to inspire you to consider a holiday on Exmoor and to bring the dog and the family along too! There are loads of fun and inexpensive things to do with kids on Exmoor.
One of our favourite days out locally is a trip to Lynton & Lynmouth and take a trip on the Cliff Railway.
Have a walk and picnic at the Valley of Rocks – see the goats and spectacular scenery, enjoy a stretch of the South West Coast Path with walks for all abilities.
Visit Tropiquaria Zoo, wildlife park and Aquarium with plenty to occupy the kids and great outdoor play facilities.
There’s so much to explore at Wimbleball Lake – walk, cycle, kayak, paddle board or swim, there is lots to do and see. The perfect spot for relaxing a picnic or exhilarating water sports.
Wild Swimming at Watersmeet. A popular hobby, we are lucky to have many unspoilt spots for a breathtaking dip in the water. Theres plenty of benefits to cold water plunges (apparently!)
Torre Cider Farm. One for the whole family with animals to pet, cider to drink and café to enjoy – not to mention the Somerset cider.
Crabbing at Porlock Weir. Hours of entertainment for kids on the beach, whilst you sit on the terrace and enjoy the views. There are so many crabs you barely need a net! You could combine a quick dip in the harbour!
Visit the Exmoor Pony Centre – riders over 11 years of age can book the Exmoor Pony Trek Experience
Fossil Hunting at Kilve Beach, educational and fun, hours can be spent searching for fossils and other treasures on the coast.
Take a trip of the Exmoor Coaster the best way to see the sights from the comfort of the open top bus. Whether our 5 or 55 it is fun to sit on the top deck and enjoy the views!
We look forward to welcoming you to Exmoor this summer!
